Birthday Trip to DC!

travLast weekend Eduardo and I took a trip to DC to celebrate my birthday but also his since we didn't do much for it back in June! The ride was smooth on the way up and the hotel was very comfy.  I experienced the DC metro which I must say is very nice and that made traveling much cheaper since we didn't have to worry about parking in the city. We walked and walked. :) Dinner both nights were great.  On my birthday we went to El Chalan Peruvian Cuisine and it was delicious.  Saturday we enjoyed a slightly fancier dinner @ Brabo  in historic downtown Alexandria.

We were able to see all the memorials around the mall and the Holocaust Museum (a must see).  It took us four hours to experience this but we learned so much.  There are four floors of history, videos from the era, memorabilia from everywhere including the ghetto's and concentration camps starting with the rise of the Nazi Party to the end of the war and liberation of Jews. It's all so fascinating but sad.  At times it makes you ANGRY but then you read a good story of courage, strength and survival.  When in DC Check it out!

PS...in the gift shop we met a holocaust survivor, Mr. Fred Spiegel, and we bought his book which he autographed and we are excited to read.

Saturday was a lazy day and Eduardo and I watched a few episodes of Bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmerman.  What a surprise!!! It was a great culinary tour of Puerto Rico along with some historical tidbits.  See below for a great gastronomical trip of my beautiful island!
